Our mission & values

The short version

we are here. exists to help human beings see each other in a richer, deeper way — through the things we actually love, not through follower counts and job titles. We're the connective tissue between people. We help real humans find the real humans around them, and then we help you step outward into the physical world and the communities that matter.

We are a non-profit. We are paid by our members, not by advertisers. We will never sell your data. We will never run ads. We will never be another attention-economy product.

Why this exists

Most platforms sit on an incredible opportunity to connect people through what they genuinely care about — and then do the opposite. They flatten people into feeds. They reward noise. They trade your attention for advertiser dollars. And now AI-generated content is making it harder every day to know what's real and who's actually behind the screen.

We believe there's a better, radically simpler model: real humans sharing the things they love with other real humans, inside a community small enough to feel like a community. Paid because that's how we stay honest.

Our values

Human dignity is the foundation

The things we build sit on top of the Design System Community Charter by Dan Donald — a document about how humans and AI collaborate ethically to create software. We treat accessibility not as a compliance checkbox but as human dignity. We don't assume people's abilities, identities, circumstances, or contexts. We build for everyone, on purpose.

Real over viral

Every recommendation, every answer, every shared thing comes from a real person who actually has that opinion, read that book, ate at that restaurant, lives in that neighborhood. No AI-generated content. No bots pretending to be people. When someone says "this changed my life," a human being lived that.

Small over scale

We're not optimizing for unbounded growth. Community size is a carefully-considered thing — the goal is to help people at scale while keeping intimacy, authenticity, and vibe intact. We'd rather be small and real than huge and empty. We want to avoid the "I remember when this was cool before it got huge" problem.

Outward over inward

A home base, not a walled garden. We want to connect you to the other communities you belong to, the neighborhoods you live in, the local spots you love, and the people you want to know better. We want you to put the phone down and go have dinner with someone you met here. That's the win.

Your time is yours

No spam. No guilt-trips. No manufactured urgency. No notification bombardment. No engagement-hostage dark patterns. We respect your finite time and attention. This is a resource that's here when you want it, at your pace, on your schedule.

Your data is yours

We will never sell your information to advertisers. We will never monetize your attention. There is no rug pull coming. You can see what we know about you, export it, correct it, or delete it. We're a non-profit and we operate like one.

Paid to keep it real

Membership is paid, and that's by design. Your membership keeps us sustainable, keeps bad actors and bots out, and means we never need to sell ads or your data to keep the lights on. Elegantly simple value exchange: you pay us, we treat you well.

Who we are

we are here. is built by Brad Frost Web, a small studio of people who have spent years working on design systems, accessibility, and the ethical craft of building for the open web. We're a non-profit organization because the product's values and the non-profit structure reinforce each other: no shareholders asking us to optimize for attention, no ad network pulling the roadmap sideways, no exit pressure. Just the people who make it and the people who use it.
